Yale Climate & Energy Institute

Symposium, Seminar and Workshop Series

The newly established Yale Climate & Energy Institute (YCEI) announces symposium, seminar and workshop programs designed to promote collaborations between groups at Yale in natural science, engineering, medicine and social sciences in order to provide innovative approaches as well as practical and implementable solutions to climate change and future energy needs.

1. YCEI Annual Symposium. The Yale Climate & Energy Institute will host a major international 3-4 day symposium every year during the third week of October. Speakers from governments, industry and academia will be hosted for keynote addresses on topical issues relating to climate and energy. The symposium is primarily for the Yale community of students, faculty and alumnae, but nominal funding for external participants will be made available.

2. YCEI Monthly Seminar Series.

3. Solicited YCEI Workshops. The Institute welcomes proposals from Yale faculty for focused 1-2 day workshops (with no more than 50 participants). Applicants interested in hosting a YCEI Workshop should submit a 3 page proposal with a workshop topic summary, list of proposed keynote speakers, expected attendance (both numbers of participants and likely disciplines) and a budget not to exceed $15,000. In the spirit of the YCEI, broadly interdisciplinary workshops will be given the highest priority. Proposals can also contain collaborations with individuals outside of Yale. Exploratory workshops in preparation for YCEI Interdisciplinary Proposals are also encouraged. Proposals should be submitted by email to YCEI.Workshops@yale.edu by May 31, 2009, and decisions on funding will be announced by July 1, 2009.
